HomeFusion Broadband, a service that provides high-speed in-home Internet access leveraging the power and speed of Verizon’s 4G LTE network, is now available to Indiana residents.

HomeFusion Broadband offers consumers a reliable alternative for residential broadband, especially in rural and remote areas with limited broadband choices. The new service provides connectivity for a wide range of devices, including computers and gaming consoles, using the Verizon 4G LTE network, which is now available in 230 markets covering more than two-thirds of the population in the United States.

“HomeFusion Broadband is another example of Verizon Wireless’ commitment to providing consumers with the most innovative products and services,” said John Granby, president-Indiana/Michigan/Kentucky Region for Verizon Wireless. “With HomeFusion Broadband, customers across the United States and Indiana, in towns large and small, will have the chance to link devices to the Internet and take advantage of the speed, coverage and connectivity offered by our 4G LTE network.”

Verizon began launching 4G LTE in Indiana in the fall of 2010, first at the Purdue University campus in West Lafayette.

HomeFusion Broadband uses a professionally installed, cylinder-shaped antenna attached to a customer’s home. The antenna’s innovative design includes multiple internal antennae, allowing the device to pick up the best Verizon 4G LTE signal available and transmit it to a broadband router inside the home. The router can connect up to four wired and at least 20 wireless devices inside the home using Wi-Fi.

In real-world, fully loaded network environments, consumers should experience average data rates of 5 to 12 megabits per second on the downlink and 2 to 5 megabits on the uplink.

HomeFusion Broadband has been available in some markets, including Terre Haute, Ind., since March. For more information about HomeFusion Broadband, go to www.verizonwireless.com/homefusionbroadband or visit a Verizon Wireless Communications Store.

To check on residential eligibility for HomeFusion, visit Verizon’s 4G LTE website and enter your home address or zip code: http://network4g.verizonwireless.com/coverage.

The Indianapolis Marion County Public Library is pleased to announce that hours of operation will extend beginning Sunday, May 13, 2012.

Sunday library service will be available from 12 noon to 5 pm at the Central Library, as well as the Glendale, Lawrence, Nora, Pike, Southport, Warren, and Wayne branches. All libraries will be open Monday through Wednesday from 10 am to 8pm, Thursday and Friday from 10 am to 6 pm, and Saturdays from 10 am to 5 pm.

Exceptions to the schedule change include the InfoZone in The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, Flanner House Branch, and Central Library. InfoZone is open during regular operating hours of the museum, Flanner House Branch hours match the Flanner House Community Center hours, and Central Library will continue to close at 5pm on Fridays.

“I am very pleased to announce these extended hours,” says Jackie Nytes, Chief Executive Officer. She goes on to state that the citizens of Indianapolis that voiced their support for the Library are much appreciated. Elected officials responded to the call for improved access and restored programming levels. The resolution achieves a key goal for those concerned about the future of the library, and it is believed the additional hours will be sustainable.

New this year, kids can ride a free 70-foot Ferris wheel, race remote-controlled cars, and test their skills in a race car simulator. Families will have the opportunity to interact with local mascots, bounce in giant inflatables, and create arts and crafts. Children can also visit with nationally-known characters and make sashes with the 500 Festival Princesses. Dozens of exhibitors will fill Monument Circle and surrounding streets with food, fun, educational games, and more than 10,000 prizes.

As part of the Chase 500 Festival Kids’ Day, all kids ages 3 – 12 are invited to join in for the Chase 500 Festival Rookie Run at 1 p.m. It is a non-competitive fun run where everyone goes away a winner. Kids ages three to five will run a two-block course, ages six and seven will race a 1/5-mile course, and ages eight to 12 will run the 1/3-mile course. The race takes place on Ohio and Meridian streets, just north of Monument Circle. All participants will receive a goodie bag, a runner’s bib with the number 1, and a finisher’s medal. Pre-registration is $6 and ends on May 10 at 5 p.m. Event day registration is available for $10 at the corner of Pennsylvania and Ohio streets. Sponsors for Chase 500 Festival Rookie Run include Finish Line and MHS.
