INDIANAPOLIS – Northwest District Flex Team with assistance from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Criminal Gang Unit discovers a large marijuana grow during a recent home inspection.
On Wednesday, April 12, 2017, just after 8:00 p.m., Northwest District officers along with investigators from the Criminal Gang Unit assisted Community Corrections representatives in conducting a home inspection in the 3900 block of North Guion Road involving 54-year-old Brent Griner.
Community Corrections representatives were conducting the home inspection to ensure compliance with Mr. Griner’s community corrections monitoring because of previous arrests. Once a search warrant was obtained, detectives found a large marijuana grow. Detectives arrested and preliminarily charged Griner on dealing and possession of marijuana charges, as well as maintaining a common nuisance all felony level charges. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review the findings on the new charges and make a charging decision. The suspect is currently being held in the Marion County Jail.
IMPD will continue to partner with other law enforcement agencies to combat criminal behavior that can plague some neighborhoods. Illegal possession of drugs can often lead to violence that negatively impacts our city, and IMPD is committed to improving the quality of life issues for neighborhoods throughout Indianapolis.
