Mastodons used to roam the Indiana landscape. All that we know about them must be learned from their fossilized remains. Today, mastodons’ closest living relatives, elephants, live at the Indianapolis Zoo. Discover some of the clues left behind by mastodons and how those clues compare and contrast to what we can observe in modern elephants. After the presentations, attendees will receive a sneak peek of the upcoming Frozen Reign gallery at the Indiana State Museum and compare fossil and bone casts provided by both the Indianapolis Zoo and the Indiana State Museum.
