The Indianapolis Propylaeum is excited to be hosting an Afternoon Tea for Women’s History Month with a program entitled “Thoroughly Modern Addie.”
Imagine being transported back to 1907 and hearing about life and issues of the time. It is a new century bursting with energy where the future seems limitless. A young, energetic Theodore Roosevelt is in office; automobiles are still a luxury item, and everyone watches the mail for the Sears Roebuck catalog. Fashion brings more comfort and larger hats. One important struggle going on is the women’s rights movement. Debra Slone, graphic designer and history enthusiast, will tell us about all of this as she portrays her Great, Great Aunt Addie as she returns from a suffrage meeting. Surprisingly, not all women are in favor of the vote.
Please join us for an enjoyable afternoon of tea, a delightful program, favor, raffle and lovely piano music provided by Past Propylaeum President and Music Educator, Grace Long. Hats of any era are encouraged!
