Public Universal Friend is an Indianapolis-based art rock band fronted by singer-songwriter Jody Galadriel Friend. After a decade-plus solo career, Friend released the album Perennials under the PUF name in March 2021, soon after coming out publicly as a trans woman. Her songwriting style has roots in emo and post-punk as well as Appalachian roots and spiritual music, with a unique lyrical perspective of identity, faith and gender-expansive existence. The live band, which can include up to seven members, has been heard on WFYI radio and IndyGo’s Music in Transit web series.

This 500-seat proscenium theater with stadium seating is used primarily for drama, musicals, dance, lectures and variety presentations. The Tarkington is located in the same building as the Studio Theater, across the Center Green from the Palladium and adjacent to the Center Parking Garage.
