INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – Patrons may think they are seeing work by Jackson Pollack when they walk into the Stutz building, but they will actually be viewing the paintings of local artist Jason Zickler, a rising star among the Indianapolis art scene.
In one night and in two locations, guests can see the works of both Zickler and local artist Evan Morrow Rogers as the Skyline Club and the ARTBOX Gallery host the Jan. 7 opening of the newest exhibition “A Solar Approach.”
Beginning at 5 p.m., ARTBOX will preview Zickler’s work as it features paintings by Rogers, whose large-scale pieces combine aspects of Pop-Art, European Surrealism and his studies of Pre-Columbian art. A seasoned traveler, Rogers uses the full color palette to illustrate exotic culture.
Starting at 7 p.m., the Skyline Club will preview pieces by Rogers as it features the work of Zickler. With a style similar to the Abstract Expressionist artists of the 1950s, Zickler’s current collection includes a variety of pieces aimed at expressing emotion through texture and bold color. Zickler’s work has been showcased in galleries in New York, Miami and Los Angeles.
The opening will feature complimentary limousine service between the venues from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Guests can enjoy live entertainment and prizes, and are invited to attend the Indianapolis Downtown Artists and Dealers Association (IDADA) after-party at the Skyline Club beginning at 9 p.m.
The exhibit runs Jan. 7 – Jan. 28.
