The Indianapolis Marion County Public Library is pleased to announce that hours of operation will extend beginning Sunday, May 13, 2012.
Sunday library service will be available from 12 noon to 5 pm at the Central Library, as well as the Glendale, Lawrence, Nora, Pike, Southport, Warren, and Wayne branches. All libraries will be open Monday through Wednesday from 10 am to 8pm, Thursday and Friday from 10 am to 6 pm, and Saturdays from 10 am to 5 pm.
Exceptions to the schedule change include the InfoZone in The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, Flanner House Branch, and Central Library. InfoZone is open during regular operating hours of the museum, Flanner House Branch hours match the Flanner House Community Center hours, and Central Library will continue to close at 5pm on Fridays.
“I am very pleased to announce these extended hours,” says Jackie Nytes, Chief Executive Officer. She goes on to state that the citizens of Indianapolis that voiced their support for the Library are much appreciated. Elected officials responded to the call for improved access and restored programming levels. The resolution achieves a key goal for those concerned about the future of the library, and it is believed the additional hours will be sustainable.
