Play Ball Indiana will be at RBI night, Monday, July 16 at 5:30 in the right field picnic area at Victory Field raising funds for the Indianapolis Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities program.
Bob Muzikowski, author of “Safe at Home,” the inspiration for the movie “Hard Ball” with Keanu Reeves, will be signing books in the picnic area until 6:45. Books are $20 each at the event, or add $15 to your ticket price of $35 to buy a book in advance. Bob also founded the Chicago Hope Academy in the Cabrini Green projects of Chicago. Proceeds will be split between the Academy and Play Ball Indiana.
Play Ball Indiana just completed its first successful Junior RBI season for kids ages 5-12 – truly reviving baseball in Indianapolis among this younger, underserved age group, comprised of primarily IPS kids. Currently, Play Ball Indiana is managing Forest Manor Park, an Indy Parks facility near 21st and Sherman (a/k/a Lids Sports Complex). Lids and Deloitte sent crews of employees to refurbish the fields in April and
June. Three Indianapolis RBI teams will be competing in the RBI Regional tournament in Cleveland next week. Your monetary donations will help defer trip expenses for the kids.
