When it comes to anything related to “Doomsday” predictions, you have my attention out of curiosity. So when The Coffee Table Book of Doom made it to my desk, I dove in and read it cover-to-cover in a few days.
In The Coffee Table Book of Doom Steven Appleby and Art Lester take you through a journey of end of the world scenarios, with numerous facts to back them up and a twist of humor thrown in. And the humor begins right away with the introduction and the page numbering (the pages are numbered backwards as a countdown, and honestly that was kind of nice to know how many pages were left).
Once into the meat of the book you’ll read about Cosmic Doom, Eco Doom, Medical Doom, Geophysical Doom, Climate Change Doom, Technological Doom, Social & Political Doom, Religious Doom, Philosophical Doom & Personal Doom and then round it out with Living with Doom.
All-in-all I enjoyed this book, and really appreciated the humor in it, because, let’s face it, if the world is ending there isn’t anything we can do about it. Grab a copy or two before it’s too late.
