INDIANAPOLIS – The 500 Festival announced today the 37th running of the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon sold out with 35,000 entries on March 31, 2013. The event is scheduled for May 4, 2013. Entries postmarked on or before March 31, 2013, will still be accepted.
The Mini is the nation’s largest half marathon with 35,000 runners and walkers. The Mini-Marathon has continued to grow since its inception in 1977 with a field of just 800 participants.
“Being the nation’s largest half marathon, we are fortunate that the Mini has sold out for the past 12 years,” said Terry Powers, Vice President of Operations. “Each year we continually invest more into the event to enhance the overall participant experience at the Mini-Marathon and 5K whether it’s with state-of-the-art timing technology, runner tracking, or an interactive race expo. We believe this is why the event continues to be a huge success.”
There are several additional events surrounding the Mini-Marathon for both participants and the public to enjoy. Stop by the 500 Festival Mini-Marathon Expo, May 2 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on May 3 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. in Halls A & B of the Indiana Convention Center or the 500 Festival Post Race Party in Military Park on May 4, 2013 from 7 a.m. – 2 p.m.
