Footlite Musicals (Footlite) is pleased to announce the opening of its 58th season with the Young Adults Production of Young Frankenstein, an Indianapolis debut. It will run July 5-21 at the Hedback Community Theatre.
Winner of the 2008 Outer Critic’s Award for Outstanding New Musical, Young Frankenstein is the madcap musical version of the Mel Brooks film of the same name. It follows the story of Dr. Frankenstein’s grandson and his creation of a new monster. The production features a talented cast of young adults, ages 18-25, from many parts of the Indianapolis metropolitan area and marks the return of Footlite veterans Kathleen Clarke Horrigan, the production’s director, and choreographer Trish Roberds.
Young Frankenstein features original music and lyrics by Mel Brooks, a dazzling rendition of Irving Berlin’s “Puttin’ on the Ritz”, full orchestra accompaniment and upbeat dance numbers. The production was made possible, in part, through the generous support of The Summer Youth Program Fund, a funding collaboration that provides grants coordinated by the Central Indiana Community Foundation and Lilly Endowment.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased 24 hours a day online at www.footlite.org/boxoffice or by phone through Brown Paper Tickets by calling 800-838-3006.
