The 2014 Indiana State Fair will celebrate the ‘Year of the Coliseum’ – the Fair will open at the newly-renovated Fairgrounds Coliseum on Friday morning, and by noon the historic building will be the center of attention for Hoosier hockey fans as well: At 12:00pm, the Indy Fuel will unveil its team jersey and introduce its mascot at the Coliseum, where the team will skate against ECHL foes starting in October.
As the home ice for the Fuel, the Fairgrounds Coliseum will also be the lair of its dragon mascot. Team officials will announce the mascot’s name, and the creature will be on hand to enjoy the first day of the Fair. Fans helped name the mascot via social media, and young artists submitted their renditions of the dragon’s color scheme – winners of these promotions will also be announced Friday. The Fuel will also showcase the official jersey, which will be available for sale at the announcement and in the team shop (‘The Garage’) at the Coliseum.
