On July 20, 2015 at approximately 3:00 p.m., officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) were dispatched to the 9100 block of East 39th Place on a report of shots fired. As officers made their way to the scene, they received updated information of a person shot. When officers arrived at the scene they located a male victim suffering from a gunshot to the chest and leg. The victim, believed to be 16 years old, was transported to Riley Hospital for Children in critical condition. A short time after arriving at the hospital, the victim was pronounced deceased.
Homicide detectives are interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence from the scene. No suspect(s) have been identified, however two black males were reportedly seen running from the scene. No further suspect information has been made available at this time, nor has a motive been determined. Investigators will use the information gathered at the scene and witness information to identify a person(s) of interest.
