On Sunday, July 19th just after 12:30 a.m., officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) were sent to the 3700 block of Salem Street reference a disturbance with a gun. When officers arrived, they were told that a man with a gun had pointed it at several people. Officers did respond to the area earlier in the day reference shots fired.
Several of the involved people told police that the male suspect was inside the house with the gun. Due to the suspect’s potential threat to cause considerable harm to officers, they requested the assistance of SWAT and Crisis Negotiation teams. After several hours of attempting to make contact with the suspect, SWAT units subsequently entered the house and determined the suspect was not inside.
Alert officers subsequently found the suspect, identified as 55-year-old Johnny White of Indianapolis, in the 3600 blk. Salem St. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
