INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Hit-and-Run detectives investigate a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a 23-year-old female earlier this morning.
Around 5:30 a.m., this morning, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) were sent to the intersection of E. New York Street and N. Bradley Av. on a serious crash. When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive female front seat passenger partially ejected suffering from significant injuries. EMS personnel arrived and pronounced the female as deceased. The victim was subsequently identified by the Marion County Coroner’s Office as 23-year-old Antoinette Johnson of Indianapolis.
Detectives have determined that this crash was one vehicle crash that resulted in the tragic death of the victim. Additionally, investigators have determined that the driver of the vehicle lost control, went off the road and struck a fire hydrant and two street signs. The vehicle then hit a retaining wall of a house near the intersection of E. New York, and N. Bradley Av. Detectives detained a rear seat passenger, and they believe the front seat driver fled the scene. Detectives have not yet determined what factors, to include alcohol or drugs, contributed to the crash. Detectives have not yet released any suspect information but are following-up on several promising leads.
Detectives urge anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers of Indiana at (317) 262-TIPS. All information shared via Crime Stoppers is considered anonymous.
