Austin Meadows and Dovydas Neverauskas have been selected to participate in the 2016 Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game on Sunday, July 10, as part of Major League Baseball’s All-Star events at Petco Park in San Diego.
Meadows (Atlanta, Ga.) will join the US Team while Neverauskas (Vilnius, Lithuania) will join the World Team.
Meadows, an outfielder, made his Triple-A debut on June 18, going 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs. He extended his season long hitting streak to 26 games through June 20 and is currently batting .417 with four extra-base hits in four games at Victory Field. He is rated by Baseball America as the Pirates’ No. 2 prospect and No. 22 overall in Minor League Baseball.
Neverauskas (DOVID-us never-AHSK-us), a right-handed pitcher, also made his Triple-A debut this season on June 16. He has combined across all levels to go 1-1 with a 2.67 ERA this year and is just the second Lithuanian-born player to sign with a Major League club.
The rosters were selected jointly by MLB, Baseball America, and the individual teams.
Trevor Hoffman will manage the US Team while former Indianapolis Indian Moises Alou (1990) will skipper the international squad. This is the 18th year for the event, intended to showcase professional baseball’s brightest up-and-coming talents.
