Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers quick on their feet, along with a coordinated effort with Robbery detectives, arrest three suspected in Armed Robbery on Indy’s North side.
Just before 1:30 p.m. on 07/24/2016, IMPD officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Lake Nora Dr N on reports of an Armed Robbery. Officers met with the victim who was a delivery driver for Food King. He advised that when he got to the apartment to deliver their food, a female greeted him at the door with another male. The female suspect was armed with a handgun and directed the victim into the apartment, at which time she handed the male suspect the firearm. They then demanded that the victim empty his pockets, at which time they took his wallet containing cash and credit cards. He was then let go. As he left, he saw that the female suspect ran to a nearby apartment building.
Officers then instructed the victim to be sure to cancel his credit cards to avoid fraudulent charges. When the victim called one of his creditors, they told him that his card was actively being used at a nearby target. Officers, recognizing the opportunity to get a dangerous suspect off the streets, then responded to that Target and observed the suspects on surveillance video. They were able to see them get into a vehicle, at which time other officers setup in the area of the Robbery to attempt apprehension.
Officers observed the suspect vehicle come into the apartment complex and park nearby. The suspects, carrying Target bags, went into an apartment in the 9000 block of Lake Nora Dr. Officers then confronted the suspects. Enlisting the assistance of an IMPD Robbery detective, a warrant was obtained and three suspects were arrested. After searching the apartment, officers located the victim’s stolen property.
One male and the female suspect, both 18-year-olds, were preliminarily charged with Robbery. The third suspect, a 26-year-old male, was charged with Credit Card Fraud. All three were interviewed by detectives and admitted to having involvement with the crime. A final charging decision will be made by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. The suspects were later transported to the Arrestee Processing Center downtown. Anyone with information regarding this incident or others, is asked to contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at (317)262-TIPS (8477). All information given via Crime Stoppers is considered anonymous. This release may be updated as more information becomes available.
