Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) homicide detectives are investigating after two people were found shot; one fatally.
Officers responded to the 400 block of N Exeter Ave just before 11p.m. on July 8, 2016, on the reports of a possible burglary in progress. While responding the call was updated to a possible person shot. Upon arrival, officers discovered a door open to the residence. While conducting a welfare check they located a male suffering from a gunshot wound. EMS was requested Officers then located another male who had suffered from a gunshot wound and was unresponsive. While completing the sweep of the residence, officers came into contact with additional possible witnesses to include children. EMS personnel entered and transported one male to Eskenazi Hospital. The second male was pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide detectives responded to begin interviewing potential witnesses and identify possible evidence. The Marion County-Indianapolis Forensic Services Agency responded to process for possible forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner will be assisting in the investigation, as to the exact cause and manner of death.
