Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department homicide detectives have learned the identity of the victim who was found dead on the city’s east side this morning.
The victim has been identified as 40-year-old Angela Wright of Indianapolis. The Marion County Coroner’s Office found that the victim died from a gunshot wound. The death has been ruled a homicide and IMPD detectives are continuing to seek out more information about this incident.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) homicide detectives are investigating after a woman, with head trauma, is found dead.
Just after 5 a.m., on 07/14/2016, IMPD officers were dispatched to the 3000 blk of Nowland Ave, on the report of a woman down in the street. Officers arrived and located the woman, unresponsive, with apparent head trauma. EMS personnel responded and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide detectives responded and are currently gathering witness statements and canvassing the area for potential evidence. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded and will process for possible forensic evidence. The Marion County Coroner will be assisting in the investigation, as to the exact cause and manner of death.
