On Wednesday(2-22-17) just after 6:30 p.m., officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were sent to the Chinese Buffet located in the 4700 block of West 38th Street reference trouble with a person.
Witnesses told officers that an adult male had inappropriately solicited a 6-year-old boy for sexual favors while they were in the bathroom together. It is alleged that while the young boy and suspect were in the bathroom, the man communicated with the young boy asking for sexual favors. A witness overheard the conversation and immediately notified police. The witness and others stopped the man from leaving until police arrived.
Detectives arrived and learned that the young boy repeatedly told the suspect no after being asked by the suspect for sexual favors. Detectives confirmed with the victim that suspect did not touch him. Detectives transported the suspect to be questioned and eventually arrested him on a preliminary charge of child solicitation. The suspect was taken to the Arrestee Processing Center to be processed. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review the investigative findings of the case to make a charging decision.
Anyone who suspects crimes involving children or suspicion of acts against children should report them to police immediately.
