Detectives arrest an alleged robbery suspect after officers catch him while he was attempting to rob a pharmacy.
Saturday at about 5:00 a.m., officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were sent to the CVS Pharmacy located in the 5600 block of Georgetown Road in reference to a robbery in progress.
Northwest District officers Slightom and Carter quickly arrived and entered the CVS while Officer Trotter covered the back of the business. Officers inside the store, saw a male dressed in black wearing a ski mask behind the pharmacy counter with the Pharmacist. Officers ordered the suspect, later identified as 18-year-old Alpha Diallo, to the ground. After a brief struggle, officers were able to take the suspect into custody.
Detectives later learned that the suspect had entered the store and jumped the counter and demanded several pain medications to included Percocet and Xanax. At some point, the suspect had demanded the victims to open the safe. The suspect began grabbing drugs putting them in his pockets; when the police entered and ordered the suspect to the ground.
The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arrestee Processing Center to face a preliminary charge of robbery. The Marino County Prosecutor’s will make a charging decision. No injuries were reported as result of this incident.
