Just after 9 p.m. on 03/24/2016, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) were dispatched to the Del Taco restaurant in the 3900 block of N High School Rd, on reports of a robbery that had just occurred.
The IMPD Robbery Coordination Unit along with ECU and the FBI Safe Streets Tasks Force, had been investigating multiple robberies of predominately Hispanic businesses throughout Indianapolis. Through the use of proven investigative techniques, detectives were able to determine an area that the suspects may victimize next. Officers and detectives were alerted and immediately responded to the area.
The suspect vehicle left the scene of the robbery and eventually went to the 600 block of Somerset. Speedway Police Department (SPD) officers assisted IMPD in locating the suspect vehicle.18-year-old Jahrell Williams was located in the driver’s seat of the vehicle and three other suspects were seen running from the garage it was parked near. IMPD K9 Officers were on-scene, and an excellent perimeter was quickly established by district cars. Multiple officers from Northwest and Southwest Districts assisted. K9 began a track and quickly located all three suspects, who were found hiding in the 500 block of Rochester. The three were identified as 20-year-old Fernando Degante-Toledo, 18-year-old Eliceo Ortiz-Cabrera, and a 17-year-old juvenile male.
A search warrant was obtained and executed for an address in the 600 block of N Somerset, with assistance from IMPD Homicide, Robbery, and Aggravated Assault detectives. Numerous pieces of evidence from this and previous robberies were located, processed and collected. All four suspects were arrested and preliminarily charged with robbery. They were later transported to the Arrestee Processing Center for booking. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case and make a final charging decision.
