Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Homicide detectives are investigating a shooting death of a man at a gas station.
At approximately 11:40 p.m on 03/07/2017, officers with the IMPD were dispatched to the Phillips 66 Gas Station in the 3200 block of S Keystone Ave on reports of a person shot. Responding officers located an unresponsive male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. EMS personnel responded and pronounced the male dead on-scene.
Homicide detectives responded to the scene and began canvassing the area. Initial reports indicate that the shooting allegedly stemmed from an attempted robbery and that the store clerk had allegedly shot the alleged robbery suspect. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will be consulted with throughout the investigation.
The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist in identifying and collecting potential forensic evidence. The name of the deceased male will be available through the Marion County Coroner’s Office once proper next-of-kin notification has been made.
