INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department homicide detectives are on the scene of a fatal shooting in the 2800 block of Brookside Ave.
Just before 3:00 p.m., officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) were sent to the 2800 block of Brookside Ave. reference a possible person shot.
Officers quickly arrived and found a male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound inside a double residence. EMS personnel arrived at the scene and pronounced the man dead at the scene. The man’s identity will be confirmed by the Marion County Coroner’s Office after a planned autopsy and notification of the victim’s next-of-kin. No other injuries were reported as result of this incident.
Officers have not found any obvious signs of forced entry, but the investigation is still early, and further details are not yet available. Detectives along with the Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency are here canvassing and processing the scene. Detectives have not yet released any suspect information and no arrest have occurred.
