INDIANAPOLIS – Hit-and-Run investigators arrest 20-year-old Tresor Shema of Indianapolis on preliminary charges Failure to Stop at an Accident involving death, a Level 5 felony.
Just after 12:00 AM on April 23, 2017, officers were sent to the intersection of 34th and Moller Road reference a serious accident. When officers arrived they found a maroon Volkswagon Passat and white Dodge Neon involved in an accident.
Investigators believe that the suspect was driving a maroon Volkswagon Passat traveling north on Moller Road when it collided with a white Dodge Neon traveling south on Moller Road attempted to turn east onto 34th Street. The impact of the collision caused significant damage to the Dodge Neon splitting it in half.
The driver of the white vehicle has been identified as 22-year-old Luis Rivera, who was transported to Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Hospital by EMS personnel in good condition. The front seat passenger, who was unresponsive when officers arrived, inside the Dodge Neon was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS personnel.
The fatality victim has been preliminarily identified as a 22-year-old female victim however at this time next-of-kin notification is unknown.
Investigators indicate that after the crash the driver of the maroon Volkswagon Passat tried to flee, but was quickly apprehended by Hit-and-Run investigators. Investigators suspect that that alcohol may be a contributing factor in the collision. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review the investigative findings to make a charging decision.
