May 17, 2017, just after 7:00 p.m., officers were sent to the 2500 block of N. Harding Street because Citizens Gas workers were dispatched to the location for a service call reference a suspected gas leak. Workers arrived and found inside a house the body of an unresponsive woman. The workers immediately exited the residence and called the police.
When officers arrived, they were directed to the location inside the house where the female victim was located. Responding officers called for EMS personnel who arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Please contact the Marion County Coroner’s Office (MCCO) during regular business hours to obtain the victim’s name.
Detectives are investigating the circumstances of this incident, but the preliminary developments appear to be suspicious. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency arrived and processed the scene for forensic evidence. Detectives canvassed the neighborhood seeking additional information and have not yet released any additional details to include a reliable suspect description. Once the MCCO has performed an autopsy, a cause and manner of death will be determined. The MCCO will release the victim’s name once they have ensured next-of-kin has notified.
