TRIBE NOTES
TO THE MAX: Tribe infielder Max Moroff belted two home runs in last night’s win, giving him a team-high eight on the season. He leads the International League with his eight blasts and is one of 10 players in Minor League Baseball to have hit eight-plus long balls this season. On the Triple-A circuit, Moroff is joined by El Paso’s Jamie Romak (11), Iowa’s Ian Happ (8) and Reno’s Christian Walker (8) as players with at least eight home runs.
WELL, THAT ESCALATED QUICKLY: Entering the 2017 season, Moroff had accumulated 25 total home runs in 539 career games played in his professional career. He had hit eight home runs in a season twice in his career, doing so in 2013 and 2016 — he’s already matched his career high through 23 games in 2017.
MOROFF THAT PLEASE: Moroff has accounted for eight of Indianapolis’ 21 home runs as a team this season. Jason Rogers is second on the team with four blasts, while Christopher Bostick, Anderson Feliz and Eric Wood each have two apiece. Last night’s two-homer performance was the first of Moroff’s professional career.
FAMILIAR TERRITORY: Moroff’s two-homer game was the first by a Tribe player since Jose Osuna clubbed a pair of home runs on Aug. 3, 2016, at Columbus, both off right-hander D.J. Brown.
UNCHARTED TERRITORY: Anderson Feliz’s two-run homer in the ninth inning last night was his second in as many games. He also homered on April 30 @ Scranton/W-B, marking the first time in his career where he’s homered in consecutive games.
