Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department aggravated assault detectives have arrested 23-year-old Malik Halfacre of Indianapolis for attempted murder after he allegedly shot 23-year-old Ernest Tucker of Indianapolis five times on Monday.
Detectives believe that on Monday, May 8, 2017, just after 3:00 p.m., in the 1700 block of Medford Avenue the suspect shot the victim after the victim arrived at an ex-girlfriend’s house to speak with her. The suspect is alleged to have emerged from the ex-girlfriend’s residence retrieve a gun from an unknown person and shoot the victim several times. The victim was taken to IU Health Methodist Hospital by a friend where the victim was last listed in critical but stable condition.
The suspect was quickly located at his residence and was immediately taken down to IMPD Headquarters for questioning. After being questioned by detectives, the suspect was arrested on preliminary charge of attempted murder and transported to the Arrestee Processing Center to be processed. This case will be reviewed by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office for a charging decision.
