Just after 5 p.m. on May 9, 2017, officers with the IMPD were dispatched to the 6000 block of E 34th St on a report of shots fired. The call was later updated to a person shot. Responding officers located an unresponsive male, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, down in a parking lot. EMS personnel responded and pronounced the victim dead on-scene.
Homicide detectives responded and began canvassing the area for witnesses. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist in identifying and collecting potential forensic evidence. The victim’s name will be available through the Marion Coroner’s Office once proper next-of-kin notification has been made. This is an ongoing and active investigation.
