On May 20, 2017, just after 1:41 a.m., officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were sent to the 6000 block of Beachview Drive reference shots fired. When officers arrived, they found no one.
An hour later officers were called to the Eskenazi Hospital for a man who had been shot in the 6000 block of Beachview Drive.
66-year-old Oluwadayomi Epenusi had suffered from at least one gunshot wound. Despite the best life-saving efforts of medical professionals at the hospital, the victim died during surgery. Homicide detectives were called and they immediately began investigating this case.
Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting, and the Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency has processed the crime scene for possible forensic evidence. Detectives have not yet released any additional details to include possible suspect descriptions.
