Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Homicide detectives are investigating after three people were shot, one of them being killed, on the city’s west side.
Just after 12 a.m. on May 6, 2017, officers with the IMPD were dispatched to the 5600 block of W 38th St on reports of a person shot. Responding officers located three male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other two victims were transported to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition and stable condition, respectively.
Homicide detectives responded and began canvassing the area for witnesses. The Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency responded to assist with identifying and collecting possible forensic evidence. The name of the deceased victim will be available through the Marion County Coroner’s Office after positive identification and proper next-of-kin notification has been made. This is an ongoing and active investigation.
