NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a woman from a cruise ship 40 nautical miles southeast of Southwest Pass, Louisiana, Tuesday.
Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a report at 6:20 a.m. of a 53-year-old female suffering from stroke-like symptoms aboard the cruise ship Carnival Fantasy.
Watchstanders launched a Coast Guard Air Station MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew at 7:50 a.m. and a Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew at 8:38 a.m. to assist.
The MH-65 aircrew arrived on scene at 9:04 a.m. and successfully hoisted the survivor and an accompanying nurse and transported both individuals to West Jefferson Hospital in Marrero, Louisiana, at10:20 a.m.
The survivor was reported in stable condition.
