Children and families can get outside and have fun at events across the state to celebrate Nature Play Days, June 10-18, including this weekend’s Ford Hoosier Outdoor Experience at Fort Harrison State Park in Indianapolis.
Nature Play Days kicks off with activities on Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, June 9. The event will include fishing games, birdwatching, pollinators and more.
The Ford Hoosier Outdoor Experience happens the next two days, June 10-11, at Fort Harrison State Park in Indianapolis. The free, family-friendly event is presented by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and the Indiana Natural Resources Foundation. For more information, see hoosieroutdoorexperience.com.
Other Nature Play Day events include fishing days and hikes across central Indiana, biking in Terre Haute and Zionsville, and a water festival in Hobart. Campfires, hikes and other activities will take place from Evansville to Albion and many towns in between.
The Indiana Children and Nature Network is coordinating Nature Play Days with the DNR Division of Fish & Wildlife and other organizations. Parks, camps and other venues will host activities.
