Detectives with both the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide and Traffic units are awaiting autopsy results to determine how a man die early this morning.
Today (7/1/17) just after 5:00 a.m., officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) were dispatched to the 1400 block of N. Exter Avenue in reference to a person down. EMS personnel arrived a found an unresponsive male down in the roadway and pronounced dead at the scene. The man suffered serve facial trauma. The man was later identified as a 48-year-old man from Indianapolis who may have lived just 6 blocks from the incident scene. The man’s name will not be released until notification of next-of-kin has been verified.
Investigators are awaiting results of an autopsy to determine an exact cause and manner of death; however, both Homicide and Traffic detectives are investigating the circumstances and at this time are considering this a death investigation.
