Rosedale, Ind. – Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an ATV crash involving a six year-old girl. She suffered serious chest injuries and was taken by ambulance to Union Hospital in Terre Haute. She was later flown to Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.
The girl was operating a 3 wheel ATV when she failed to negotiate a turn and drove the ATV over a steep embankment, approximately 20 feet down, into a creek. The girl was pinned under the ATV for a short time until her mother lifted it and removed her. The girl was wearing a helmet which was slightly damaged.
The 911 call was placed to the Vigo County Central Dispatch Center at 2:01 p.m. The crash occurred on Valley View Lane near Rosedale, Indiana.
The machine was a 1985, red, Honda, 80cc, 3 wheel ATV.
Responding agencies: Vigo County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police, Otter Creek Fire Department, and Trans-Care Ambulance service and Indiana Conservation Officers.
