Elkhart County – The Indiana State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that has claimed the life of the driver.
The crash happened shortly after 8:00 PM near the 87.4-mile marker, westbound. This is five miles west of the Elkhart exit.
Preliminary investigation, by Trooper Andrew Baldwin, shows that a 2015 Freightliner flatbed truck was driving westbound when it ran off the road for an unknown reason and entered the ditch on the north side of the road. The truck then rolled onto its top, losing its load of steel sheets.
Traffic was able to get by on the left shoulder and the road was not shut down.
The driver of the truck was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash investigation is ongoing and more information will be released as it becomes available.
