In not-so “breaking news”, the local TV blackout for the 2021 Indianapolis 500 has officially been lifted.
Over a week ago my mother called me to ask if the TV blackout had been lifted, to which I informed her that I would assume so since tickets have been “sold out” for over a year, but that I hadn’t seen an official press release on the matter. (And I still haven’t.)
She went on to inform me that it had popped up on her cable guide, which begged the question.
Well, yesterday they put out the official announcement via Twitter…
Race fans across Central Indiana can tune in to this year’s #Indy500 on @nbc.

So yes, the 2021 TV blackout of the Indy 500 has been lifted this year. Otherwise, you’d have some pretty irate local racing fans.
Regardless, you’ll still find the Naptown Buzz crew and 135,000 of our closest racing friends watching the 105th Indy 500 live from Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
