Halloween in the Catacombs 2019

Soundspace has announced “Halloween in the Catacombs,” a concert taking place at 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31 in the Tomlinson Hall Catacombs beneath Indianapolis City Market.

Local bands The Palace and Philia will perform, along with DJ sets from musicians Frozen Turtle and DJ Steeze. Doors open at 9 p.m. with music to follow until 1 a.m. Event is all ages, with local Sun King beer and Hotel Tango spirits available for guests 21 and older.

In addition, to live performances by four local musicians, the event will feature a visual light installation by Double Negative Design, a cash prize costume contest, door prizes, giveaways, trick-or-treating and more.

General admission and VIP tickets are on sale now at eventbrite.com. General admission standing room tickets are $10 in advance. VIP tickets are $15 in advance, which include a drink ticket and entry for exclusive prize giveaways.

24th Annual Safe Night Halloween at the Indiana State Fairgrounds

For the 24th consecutive year, the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center, along with dozens of community partners, are coming together to host Safe Night Halloween from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, October 31. Offering kids and parents a free, safe place to spend Halloween, the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center’s Safe Night Halloween is open to all children ages 12 and under who are accompanied by an adult. Parking and admission are free to all. This year, the event will be offered indoors at the 4-H Exhibit Hall on the northside of the Fairgrounds.

This annual event began as a community service for State Fairgrounds-area neighborhood families and, thanks to generous sponsors and donors to the Indiana State Fair Foundation, the event has provided a free, fun and safe Halloween to more than 60,000 area children since 1996.

2019 Indianapolis Trick-or-treat Hours

The City of Indianapolis announced trick-or-treat hours for Halloween and offered up tips to help trick-or-treaters stay safe.

Trick-or-treat hours in Indianapolis will be from 6 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 31. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) will have extra patrols and enforcement in neighborhoods during these times to protect the safety of residents during Halloween festivities.

If you are joining in this year’s trick-or-treating fun, please consider the following safety tips:

  • Wear light-colored clothing short enough to prevent tripping and add reflective tape
  • Wear fire-resistant costumes
  • Make sure children can see well through face masks
  • Don’t wear masks or disguises into businesses
  • Adults should accompany young children and children with special needs
  • Go out in daylight hours if possible or carry a flashlight if you’ll be out after dark
  • Motorists are reminded to slow down and be aware of their surroundings
  • Only give and accept wrapped or packaged treats
  • Examine all treats before allowing children to eat them. If you find a suspicious item, contact police as soon as possible at 327-3811; if an injury is involved, dial 911
  • Avoid props such as toy guns, which can look real
  • Consider block parties instead of trick-or-treating
  • Don’t fire guns – not only is this illegal but what goes up, must come down
  • Check the weather and have appropriate dress under costumes in the event of cold temperatures

Not-So Silent Halloween October 25, 2019

At Not-So Silent Halloween, you get scary movies, creepy music, spooky lighting, a costume contest with cash prizes, and adult beverages in the Grand Hall at Indiana Landmarks Center, 1201 Central Avenue in Indianapolis, a restored and repurposed nineteenth-century church.

Doors and cash bar open at 6:30 p.m. Classic scary organ music begins at 7 p.m. along with spooky special lighting effects that make the Grand Hall an eerie pre-Halloween destination. Frightful Sammy Terry emcees the evening, with stage presentations, lots of audience participation activities, and photo ops.

The 1955 cult classic Bride of the Monster, starring Bela Lugosi and directed by Edward D. Wood, Jr., sets the tone for an evening of campy horror fun. Along with the main feature, concert organist Mark Herman conjures atmospheric musical selections and an entertaining score for an early silent short.

To compete for a cash prize in our Halloween costume contest, dress as your favorite classic movie monster. We’ll award prizes to the best classic monster, the best original monster and the best creepy couple (think Frankenstein’s monster and his bride, Morticia and Gomez, King Kong and Ann Darrow, Janet and Brad). Work on presentation because you’ll parade yourself across the stage in style for crowd reaction and judges’ view.

The event ends around 10:00 p.m.—plenty of time to head to a club, bar or another party in your Halloween disguise.

Spirits on Main at the Dallara IndyCar Factory Oct. 26th

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum and event sponsor Indy Racing Experience have teamed up for “Spirits on Main,” the ultimate Halloween 2019 bash at the Dallara IndyCar Factory on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 6-10 p.m. (ET).

Located in the heart of Speedway, Indiana’s vibrant Main Street entertainment district, Dallara’s North American headquarters provides the perfect backdrop for “Spirits on Main,” combining high-end motorsports performance with costumed socializing, great food from Main Street staple Barbeque and Bourbon, and spirits courtesy of Jack Daniels. Live music starts at 6:30 p.m. courtesy of popular ’60s rock n’ roll cover connoisseurs, 45 RPM.

All proceeds from “Spirits on Main” will benefit the Museum’s innovative educational programming, engaging exhibits, unparalleled Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s Grounds tours, and critical care for the Museum’s significant motorsports collection.

Attendees will get a sneak peek at the Museum’s upcoming exhibit, “From the Vault” presented by Bank of America, opening November 20. Several of the priceless and significant race cars to be showcased at “From the Vault” will be on display at “Spirits on Main.”

Guests can dance all evening in their best costumes and enjoy an Indy Racing Experience street-legal two-seater ride for $20. Guests must be age 21 or older to attend. Tickets are just $25 for IMS Museum members and $35 for non-members and the price includes two drink tickets; hors d’oeuvres hosted by Main Street’s Barbecue and Bourbon; and 45 RPM on stage until closing time.

Speedway’s 2019 Trunk or Treat to be Held at High School Oct. 26th

Trunk or Treat, presented by Speedway Chamber of Commerce and B & W Plumbing, is an opportunity for kids to trick or treat safely and for local businesses to interact with the community.

Local businesses will pick a theme and decorate a car trunk or vehicle and distribute candy. Event organizers estimate more than 800 trick or treaters. B & W Plumbing will bring its haunted trailer.

Attendees will have the opportunity to vote for the scariest trunk, most original trunk and fan favorite.

CANCELLED Yappy Hour Howl-O-Ween Edition

White River State Park (WRSP), in partnership with RadioNOW, has canceled the final Yappy Hour event of the season, Yappy Hour Howl-O-Ween Edition scheduled for today, Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019.

Due to this week’s weather and conditions in Military Park, the park has opted to end the series for the season. The summer series will return in the late spring of 2020. Thank you for a wonderful season.
