IMPD Missing Person detectives are happy to announce that 25-year-old Jacob Denny has been located and is safe.

Police are still looking for 18-year-old Andrew Lewis. Lewis is a ward of the state. Detectives believe he is with his mother, Kyla Butcher, who is driving a 2008 Mercury Mountaineer with a paper tag# G961063. See the attached flyer for additional information.

This update includes the ages of the three men: 25-year-old Jacob Denny, 19 year-old David Booher, and 18-year-old Andrew Lewis all walked away from the Group-home.

Officers and detectives continue to search the area and are seeking the public’s assistance. A picture of Jacob Denny, David Booher, and Andrew Lewis is attached. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Missing Person detectives are seeking the public’s help in locating three males who walked away from a Group-home.

On 3.22.17 just after 1:00 a.m., officers with the IMPD were dispatched to the 6500 block of McFarland Rd. Officers were informed that Jacob Denny David Booher, and Andrew Lewis all walked away from the Group-home.

All three subjects have verbal, physical aggressive traits, suicidal tendencies, mood disorders, seizures, and cannot make decisions on their own. All three males are between 5’6”-5’10” and have brown hair. The three were last seen near Hardees in the area of Southeastern/E. Washington St.

Missing Person’s detectives were notified and responded to the scene. Officers and detectives continue to search the area and are seeking the public’s assistance. A picture of Jacob Denny, David Booher, and Andrew Lewis is attached. Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to call police at 911 or Marion County Communication at (317)327-3811. IMPD Seeks Help Finding Person of Interest (March 2017)

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department forensic sketch artist has completed and Aggravated Assault detectives have released a composite sketch of a person of interest reference the shooting of a male on the city’s southeast side.

On August 14, 2016, just after 6:20 p.m., IMPD officers were dispatched on a residential burglary-in-progress in the 5800 block of Somers Drive. Soon after, the 911 dispatcher informed the responding officers that the homeowner had been shot. When officers arrived, they located a 30-year-old male suffering from a shotgun wound to his lower extremities which had amputated his leg. Officers set a perimeter and K9 officers responded but the suspect was not located.

The victim reported that he woke up to a noise inside his home, and informed his wife to gather and hide their young children ages seven to twelve, and call 911. He grabbed his shotgun and began searching the home when he confronted the alleged suspect. The two men violently wrestled over the shotgun and he was shot. The alleged suspect fled the scene. The wife relayed this information to 911 in real time and began to rendered first-aid. The alleged suspect was described as a black male, approximately 30 years of age, 6’3”, 225 lbs., dark complexion, short afro, dark t-shirt, blue jean pants. A few days before the shooting, the alleged suspect along with two other males were seen casing the sub-division in a silver 1990s Infiniti 4-door.

Traffic Stop in Haughville Nets $7K and Illegal Drugs

IMPD officers find over 200 grams of suspected cocaine, over 100 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 3 grams of suspected heroin, 4 grams of suspected fentanyl and 92 suspected Xanax pills. Also, officers seized over $7K in cash and one vehicle, during a traffic stop.

On Tuesday (3/14/17), Officer Portell with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Southwest District Flex Team made a traffic stop just after 3:30 p.m. on St. Clair Street just east of King Avenue. Officer Portell had observed a Cadillac with illegally tinted windows. The vehicle’s windows were so dark that Officer Portell could not see the occupants in the vehicle. One of two backseat passengers, whom Officer Portell knows from previous runs, was moving his hands underneath him and gave Officer Portell an identification card that was not him. Officer Portell knows the subject as 53-year-old Walter Goodman. All occupants were asked to exit the vehicle.

In the meantime, IMPD K9 officer and her narcotic sniffing partner arrived. The dog indicated the presence of illegal narcotics located inside the vehicle. The driver, later identified as 42-year-old Braxton Buford was driving with a suspended license and suspect Walter Goodman was wanted on a felony warrant for a previous conviction for possession of cocaine issued on March 10, 2017.

Officers found in the car the following contents:

  • 208 grams of suspected cocaine
  • 133 grams of suspected methamphetamine
  • 3 grams of suspected heroin
  • 4 grams of suspected fentanyl
  • 92 Xanax pills
  • Almost 8K in cash

Both suspected were arrested, suspect Walter Goodman was preliminarily charged with possession of cocaine and methamphetamine, and suspect Braxton Buford was preliminarily charged with several felonies to include dealing in cocaine and methamphetamine, possession of cocaine and methamphetamine along with several other felony charges. Both suspects were transported to the Arrestee Processing Center to be processed. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case for a charging decision.

IMPD remains committed to strategic enforcement with a shared common goal of combating issues that deprive our communities and neighborhoods of being safe and secure. Narcotics dealing continues to drive violent crime in our community and around the country. Downtown Indy Inc. purchases bicycles for IMPD Flex Team/Homeless Unit

Downtown Indy Inc. has a great partnership with IMPD Downtown District and wanted a way to assist with homeless incidents and to be part of homeless solutions to the downtown area. Now the organization is providing “specialized” bikes for each member of the Flex team. The Flex team is a unique group of highly trained individuals with a primary focus on the needs of the homeless and the concerns of the community throughout Marion County.

These bikes will allow the team to access areas that were difficult to enter and allow them to be able to continue to assist the homeless located in camps along the river and wooded areas throughout the city.

Each member of the Flex team is an Emergency Medical Technician and is trained on signs and conditions to look for. Supplies are carried by the team to assist with first aid. Last year, the team was able to use their skills and equipment to save lives within the homeless community by providing medical assistance on the scene, even in difficult to maneuver locations.

3 Teenagers Arrested During Drug Investigation

On March 11, 2017, detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department North District Flex Team with the assistance of North District beat officers were sent to the 2400 block of Plaza Dr (Carlton Apartments) after receiving an anonymous tip that drugs were being sold from a specific apartment.

Detectives obtained a search warrant and after making entry found two adults and a juvenile at the apartment. As a result of the investigation, detectives found significant bulk quantities of marijuana and marijuana products. The evidence indicated the suspect, identified as 19-year-old Collin Prestholt, was dealing marijuana, marijuana wax, and marijuana vaporizer cartridges to the resident of Indianapolis and Zionsville communities.

As a result of the investigation detectives found and seized the following items:

  • 1 – rifle
  • $46,000 in US Currency
  • Money counting machine
  • 50 (plus) individually packaged marijuana wax containers
  • Numerous marijuana vaporizer cartridges
  • 20 (plus) Large vacuum sealed bags with suspected marijuana residue, within 2 five gallon buckets
  • Several bags of suspected marijuana
  • 1 vehicle held for forfeiture proceedings

Collin Prestholt was arrested on preliminarily charges of Dealing in Marijuana L6, Possession of Marijuana L6, Maintaining a Common Nuisance L6. Additionally, 19-year-old Robert Pfister, was preliminarily charged with Visiting a Common Nuisance MB, and the 16-year-old juvenile male was arrested on preliminary charges Possession of Marijuana MA, Visiting a Common Nuisance MB. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case for charging decision.

The results of this investigation were made possible by the efforts of the citizens of Indianapolis coming forward with information, and the efforts of the beat officers who work that area. Together their efforts made a difference to positively impact a community. Frequently illegal drug selling leads to the likelihood of increased violence, and therefore IMPD will continue to find and disrupt locations and people that sell or deal in illegal narcotics. One Killed in Accident at E 38th St/Dubarry Rd.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Accident investigators called out to a scene where one driver was killed in car accident.

Just before 6 p.m. on March 13th 2017, officers with the IMPD were dispatched to an accident at E 38th St/Dubarry Rd. When officers arrived They found an unresponsive male trapped in a gray Chevy HHR, along with two other vehicles that were involved. EMS personnel responded and pronounced the driver of the HHR dead on-scene.

Accident investigators responded and began interviewing involved parties and canvassing the area for witnesses. The investigation showed that a silver Chevy Tahoe was traveling eastbound on E 38th St in the left lane when the HHR pulled out northbound from Dubarry Rd into the Tahoe’s path. The collision sent both vehicles into oncoming westbound traffic. There was a black Jeep Wrangler traveling westbound in the right lane when the driver saw the collision and swerved right, jumping the curb, in an attempt to avoid the HHR but it clipped the left rear of his Jeep.

The two surviving drivers were taken to Eskenazi Hospital for a blood draw, which is standard for motorists involved with serious bodily injury/fatal accidents. No alcohol or drugs are suspected at this time. The name of the deceased can be obtained from the Marion County Coroner’s Office after proper next-of-kin notification has been made.

40-50 Juvenile Delinquents Fight, Throw Concrete Blocks at Police Cars

Two Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) vehicles are damaged, and one officer is checked out, after a supposed minor party ends in fights and vandalism.

Just before midnight (3/11/17), officers were sent to the intersection of West 16th Street and Rochester Avenue on a report of a disturbance. 9-1-1 dispatchers advised responding officers that large group of people was fighting in the middle of the street. Additional calls indicated that at least two individuals involved in the disturbance were armed with handguns.

When officers arrived, they found approximately 40 to 50 juveniles fighting in the middle of West 16th Street. Officers observed a minor that was armed and attempted to detain him for investigative reasons. The minor instead fled on foot, but officers were able to apprehend him quickly. While officers were dealing with the, now arrested minor, an unknown person threw a concrete block through the rear window of an unmarked and unoccupied police car. The detective had responded to the area to assist responding officers. Moments later another concrete block was thrown through the rear window of a marked police car. This time the officer was sitting inside the car when the concrete block hit the back of the officers driving side headrest causing neck pain. The officer had a complaint of pain and was checked out at one of IMPD’s occupational health clinics. The officer has since been released and the injury is not believed to be serious.

Officers finished clearing the area and completed the arrest of the 16-year-old minor found with a handgun. The minor was arrested for carrying a gun without a license and preliminarily charged as a minor in juvenile court, therefore, his name, or booking photo is not available. At this time no photos of the damaged police cars are available.

IMPD Northwest and Southwest districts will work to coordinate a professional enforcement strategy that includes community and faith-based input to prevent any future incidents. Suspected Serial Robber Caught

Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Covert Robbery Unit arrest 59-year-old Warren Bridges after he is located in stolen vehicle on the south side of Indianapolis.

Detectives along with the Agents from the FBI Violent Crimes Taskforce had been searching for the suspect for several days reference his alleged involvement in several area robberies.

Detectives transported the suspect to IMPD Headquarters were the suspect provided a statement to detectives. After the suspect’s statement to detectives, the suspect was connected to four separate robberies were a weapon was implied. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arrestee Processing Center and preliminarily charged with four separate robbery offenses. Federal authorities are reviewing the case for possible federal prosecution.

[CAUGHT] WANTED: Shooting Suspect Gregory Lawson

Detectives have apprehended the suspect without incident at the original shooting location. The suspect returned to the scene where family members called police.

Detectives transported the suspect to IMPD Headquarters to be questioned about the shooting incident. The victim remains in critical condition at the hospital. Detectives have also recovered the suspect’s vehicle as well.

Detectives would like to thank the community and our media partners for helping locate the suspect.

Detectives are searching, and asking the community’s help to find, 43-year-old Gregory Lawson of Indianapolis who is alleged to have shot and critically wounded his 41-year-old girlfriend Kristina White of Indianapolis in an overnight shooting.

The suspect is described as a: white male, weighing approximately 145lbs, standing 5’5″ tall and slender build. The suspect is believed to be driving a 2014 red Ford Fusion with Indiana license plate number of XGZ556. The suspect is believed to be armed with a silver .38 revolver handgun and possibly other firearms.

Today (3/12/17) at approximately 3:40 a.m., officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were sent to the 6100 Timberland Way reference a person shot. When officers arrived, they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. EMS personnel immediately transported the victim to Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition. The suspect is alleged to have shot his girlfriend in the head and fled the scene, in the above-described suspect vehicle, before officers arrived.

The suspect should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached by anyone but law enforcement. Robbery Suspect Caught at 56th & Georgetown CVS

Detectives arrest an alleged robbery suspect after officers catch him while he was attempting to rob a pharmacy.

Saturday at about 5:00 a.m., officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were sent to the CVS Pharmacy located in the 5600 block of Georgetown Road in reference to a robbery in progress.

Northwest District officers Slightom and Carter quickly arrived and entered the CVS while Officer Trotter covered the back of the business. Officers inside the store, saw a male dressed in black wearing a ski mask behind the pharmacy counter with the Pharmacist. Officers ordered the suspect, later identified as 18-year-old Alpha Diallo, to the ground. After a brief struggle, officers were able to take the suspect into custody.

Detectives later learned that the suspect had entered the store and jumped the counter and demanded several pain medications to included Percocet and Xanax. At some point, the suspect had demanded the victims to open the safe. The suspect began grabbing drugs putting them in his pockets; when the police entered and ordered the suspect to the ground.

The suspect was arrested and transported to the Arrestee Processing Center to face a preliminary charge of robbery. The Marino County Prosecutor’s will make a charging decision. No injuries were reported as result of this incident.
