INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Symphonic Choir’s final performance of the 76th season combines a choral classic with a newer composition by a much-celebrated living composer. J. S. Bach’s Magnificat and Morten Lauridsen’s Lux Aeterna will be performed by the 180-voice Indianapolis Symphonic Choir, the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra and guest soloists all with Hoosier connections on Friday, April 12, 2013, 8 p.m. at Clowes Memorial Hall. Title Sponsor Barnes & Thornburg LLP presents the annual Sacred Masterworks series of performances, which includes California-based composer Morten Lauridsen’s most famous choral work, Lux Aeterna. On the faculty at University of Southern California, and having served as the composer-in-residence for the Los Angeles Master Chorale (a sister organization to the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir), Lauridsen will serve as the scholar-in-residence in Indianapolis for the week leading up to the performance. He will teach master classes at Butler University, workshops with area churches and community choirs, and will participate in pre-concert activities open to the audience.

The musical minds of Bach and of Lauridsen are stunning: writing music that invigorates the performer just as much as it sets aflame the hearts of the audience,” says Eric Stark, Artistic Director of the Symphonic Choir. “On top of it all, these composers know precisely how to write for the voice, for a chorus. Country music superstar Brad Paisley will perform live on Friday, May 10 at Klipsch Music Center along with very special guests Chris Young and Lee Brice.
Brad Paisley will release his much-anticipated new album “Wheelhouse” on April 9th. The singer-songwriter and guitarist has been busy working at his home studio for the album, and he’s also producing by himself for the first time. “It’s the first time we’ve ever done a record with no one there who knows how to do it,” Paisley told Jimmy Kimmel. “I wanted it to be special or something.” The first single from the new album, called “Southern Comfort Zone”, was Paisley’s highest debut to date on the Hot Country Songs chart and gained critical praise and strong fan reaction.

Jon McLaughlin is scheduled to open the stage for Gavin DeGraw at the 500 Festival Rev Your Engines Concert on Saturday, April 27. McLaughlin has sold more than 170 thousand albums and more than 1 million digital tracks.
McLaughlin released his 2007 debut album Indiana, followed by OK Now in 2008. The albums yielded placements on the TV Series Scrubs and movies including Georgia Rule and Bridge to Terabithia. Following this, McLaughlin’s song “So Close” was featured in Disney’s Enchanted starring Patrick Dempsey and Amy Adams. The film was released with outstanding reviews and McLaughlin was later asked to perform “So Close” at the 2008 Academy Awards. McLaughlin is a native Hoosier who grew up in Anderson, Ind. and attended Anderson University. Jon’s most recent album Promising Promises was released last year and includes his latest single “Summer Is Over” featuring Sara Bareilles.
The REV Your Engines Concert is a free event that kicks off the month of May in downtown Indianapolis. Gavin DeGraw is the headlining performer for this concert. Luke Bryan “Dirt Road Diaries Tour” will appear live on Sunday, July 21 at Klipsch Music Center along with special guests Thompson Square and Florida Georgia Line as part of the Coors Light Concert Series.
Luke Bryan began his musical career in the mid-2000s, writing songs for Travis Tritt and Billy Currington. After signing with Capitol Records in Nashville in 2007, he released the album I’ll Stay Me, which included the singles “All My Friends Say”, “We Rode in Trucks” and “Country Man”. Follow-up album Doin’ My Thing included “Do I”, which Bryan co-wrote with Kelly and Dave Haywood of Lady Antebellum, and the number one singles “Rain Is a Good Thing” and “Someone Else Calling You Baby”. Tailgates & Tanlines, released in 2011, includes “Country Girl (Shake It for Me)”, and the number one singles “I Don’t Want This Night to End”, “Drunk on You”, and “Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye”. Bryan co-wrote all of his singles with the exception of “Drunk on You” and co-produced all three albums with Jeff Stevens.
