Discover “Pygmalion” with 4th Wall Players This Summer

The 4th Wall Players are thrilled to bring George Bernard Shaw’s timeless masterpiece, Pygmalion, to the Stage Door Theatre in Indianapolis, IN. Running from June 20-22 and June 27-29, 2025, this captivating play explores themes of language, class, and identity. Famously adapted into Lerner and Loewe’s My Fair Lady, Pygmalion remains a powerful story of transformation and human connection.

A Classic Tale of Transformation

Directed by Katherine Gibson, Pygmalion follows the spirited Eliza Doolittle, a Cockney flower seller, and Henry Higgins, a linguistics scholar obsessed with the English language. Gibson highlights the story’s enduring appeal:

“For me, Eliza’s journey is inspiring because she is an excellent example of making something more of yourself, having inner strength, and working hard to achieve a goal,” says Gibson. “The play also touches on how intensive interests can either insulate a person from forming deeper relationships, or those same interests can be the connection between one’s internal world and their fellow humans.”

This production promises to deliver a thought-provoking and heartfelt theatrical experience that resonates with audiences of all ages.

Behind the Scenes: A Talented Team

Gibson is joined by assistant director Kelly Melcho, a multi-talented theater professional with a Bachelor of Arts in Theater and History from Huntington University. Melcho’s expertise in dramaturgy and accent coaching has been instrumental in shaping the production.

“Her expertise behind the scenes, especially in working with the actors to develop their accents, has been invaluable to this project,” Gibson shares. “It has been a wonderful experience both working with and learning from her.”
