The 109th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge kicks off its thrilling Armed Forces Qualifying on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS). This action-packed day features NTT INDYCAR SERIES practice and qualifying sessions, offering fans a chance to witness high-speed racing and honor military personnel. Whether you’re a die-hard IndyCar fan or a first-time visitor, here’s everything you need to know about the schedule, tickets, parking, and more for this exciting event.

Event Schedule: Saturday, May 17, 2025

All times are in Eastern Daylight Time (EDT):

  • 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM: Public gates open
  • 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM: NTT INDYCAR SERIES Practice
  • 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM: Firestone Pin Distribution
    • Location: Pagoda Plaza
    • Details: This fan-favorite event offers free Firestone pins on a first-come, first-served basis. The event continues until pins run out, which may be before 11:00 AM if supplies are depleted early. Arrive early to secure your collectible!
  • 11:00 AM – 5:50 PM: NTT INDYCAR SERIES Qualifying

Ticket Information

  • General Admission: $35
    • Includes access to IMS infield viewing mounds and first-come, first-served grandstand seating for varied vantage points.
  • Military Discount: Free entry for all active and former military personnel with a valid military ID.
  • Children’s Policy: Kids 15 and under admitted free with a paying adult.
  • Important: A separate ticket is required for each day of entry.

Public Gates & Access

Gates open from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the following locations:

  • Gate 1, Gate 2, Gate 3, Gate 4, Gate 6S, Gate 7, Gate 7S, Gate 9, Gate 10, Gate 10A, Gate 11A

Plan to arrive early to enjoy the full day of racing action and explore the IMS grounds.

Parking Details

  • Free Parking: Available in Turn 3 and Lot 7 (North 40).
  • Free ADA Parking: Offered in West Museum Lot, Flag Lot, Tower Lot, Northwest Gravel Lot, and Lot 7 (North 40).
  • Free Motorcycle Parking: Located in South Carousel Lot.
  • Paid Parking:
    • $10 in Lot 2, Main Gate Lot, and Lot 3P.
    • ADA paid parking: $10 in Lot 2 and Lot 3P; $20 in Gate 1 Lot.

Arrive early to secure your preferred parking spot, especially for ADA or free options.

Cashless Operations at IMS

IMS is a cashless facility, ensuring quick and easy transactions. Accepted payment methods include:

  • Debit and credit cards
  • Tap-to-pay phone payments

For those with cash, Cash-to-Card machines are available at:

  • IMS Museum
  • Pagoda Plaza
  • Outside Turn 1 near concessions stand 7

These machines convert cash into a temporary debit card, usable at IMS, online, or anywhere Mastercard/Visa debit cards are accepted.
