Carmel Christkindlmarkt Closed Sunday Due to Extreme Cold

If you’re planning a visit to the beloved Carmel Christkindlmarkt this weekend, there’s an important weather-related update you need to know.

As announced by the official account on December 13, 2025:

MARKET CLOSED REMINDER
Sun., Dec. 14 We hate it, you hate it, but safety comes first. We know some of you travel far & plan for weeks. Closing the Market is the last thing we ever want to do — thank you for your understanding, & we apologize for any inconvenience.

Additionally, due to anticipated extremely cold temperatures, the market closed early at 7 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, and will remain fully closed on Sunday, December 14.

This closure follows the market’s established policy of shutting down whenever temperatures are forecasted to drop to 20°F or below, putting the safety of visitors, vendors, and staff first.

About the Carmel Christkindlmarkt

The Carmel Christkindlmarkt, located at 10 Carter Green in Carmel, Indiana, brings authentic old-world German Christmas charm to the Midwest. Voted the #1 Best Holiday Market in America by USA Today’s 10Best for multiple years (including 2025), it features:

  • Over 50 wooden huts with handmade gifts imported from Germany (nutcrackers, ornaments, wooden toys, and more)
  • Delicious German food and drinks, including glühwein served in collectible boot mugs
  • A 33-foot Glühwein Pyramid – the largest in the U.S., illuminated with thousands of lights
  • Outdoor ice skating rink at the Ice at Carter Green
  • Live entertainment, woodworking demonstrations, and family-friendly activities

The market runs through December 24, 2025 (closed Thanksgiving and Christmas Day), with regular hours:

  • Wednesdays & Thursdays: 4–9 p.m.
  • Fridays & Saturdays: 12–9 p.m.
  • Sundays: 12–8 p.m.

(Special hours apply on select dates – check the official website for the latest.)

Admission and parking are free – only pay for skating, food, and gifts!

Stay warm, and we hope the market reopens soon for more holiday magic. Check the official site or social channels for real-time updates before heading out.
