Indianapolis-area nature enthusiasts and aspiring gardeners have an opportunity to kickstart their native plant projects this winter. A Native Seed Starting Workshop hosted by the Indiana Native Plant Society is scheduled for Saturday, January 3, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Michigan Road Library (6201 Michigan Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46268).
The workshop will focus on practical strategies for starting native plants from seed. Attendees will review essential techniques and then participate in a hands-on session, where they will pot up native seeds. Participants will be able to take home their seeded pots and contribute to a supply of plants that will be donated to community partners.
All necessary seeds, soil, and supplies will be provided for the potting activity. Attendees are welcome to bring extra native seeds to share with the group.
A key demonstration during the event will cover the popular milk jug method for seed starting. Those planning to attend are encouraged to bring clean, empty milk jugs if they have them available for use in the demonstration or for their own projects.
Further details are available on the event flyer. Interested individuals with questions about the workshop are asked to send a private message to the event organizers.
