DETROIT – Four-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Alex Palou navigated a full-contact race featuring aggressive tire strategies to win the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear on Sunday. The victory marks Palou’s fourth win in eight races this season, extending his championship lead to 62 points over runner-up Kyle Kirkwood.
Driving the No. 10 HRC Chip Ganassi Racing Honda, Palou completed the 100-lap race in 1:59:08.5542, finishing 3.0584 seconds ahead of Kirkwood. The win is the 23rd of Palou’s career. Graham Rahal rounded out the podium, finishing third.
A pivotal moment occurred on Lap 63 when Palou and his strategist, Barry Wanser, opted to switch from the alternate tires to primary tires, avoiding the risk of losing track position under caution. Palou led a race-high 71 laps, maintaining his composure through six full-course yellow periods.
