INDIANAPOLIS – Indy DPW/AFSCME Local #725 and Indianapolis Fleet Services/AFSCME Local #3131 crews are continuing 12-hour shifts to ensure city roads remain safe for travel following the recent winter weather.

Current Progress: Priority Routes & Infrastructure

As of Friday morning, overnight crews have successfully treated nearly all Priority 1 routes across the city. The focus is now shifting as follows:

  • Priority 2 Routes: These will be addressed during the upcoming shift.
  • Bike & Trail Infrastructure: Much of the Priority 1 bike and trail network has already been cleared.

Indy DPW will maintain a full presence on the road throughout Friday to monitor conditions and retreat areas as necessary.

A Safety Reminder for Motorists

Even after snowfall has ended, road conditions can remain unpredictable. Indy DPW asks all residents to practice safe driving habits.

Incident Update: Indy DPW is thankful to report that no injuries occurred during an incident involving one of our crews earlier this morning.

Please remember: * Give Space: Stay back from snow plows so drivers can safely treat and clear the pavement.

  • Drive Cautiously: Allow extra time for your commute and maintain a safe following distance.

Resident Responsibilities

While city crews focus on major thoroughfares, residents and business owners are responsible for the following:

  • Mailboxes: Clearing snow from the area around your mailbox to ensure mail delivery.
  • Sidewalks: Clearing the sidewalks in front of your residence, business, or property.
